Поехали! Here We Go!

No comments:

Russia.

I bet that name is the most mentioned nation throughout this half year. And last year. And all the years back to the day when Russia received the honor, to be yet the next host of the world's biggest, most-celebrated sporting event.

Yea, the

World Cup 2018.

Pic's from here.

Damn. It's been 4 years already!? I remembered World Cup 2014 when I was all so vocal about football, acting like I know the sport more than anybody else haha. I re-read all those post as I needed to find some reference to start this one though, and got to say, it seems like I really enjoyed Brazil 2014. I'm surprised by how I could make such analysis match to match, from the very group stages all the way to the finals. And I must say, I envied my 4-year-ago self for having the euphoria and all the time to do that!

Honestly, if I can be frank, and of course I can be frank because this is my blog: I really didn't feel the euphoria of this one. Well I claimed the same shit on the last World Cup, but when I tracked back to 4 years ago, my very first post about the tournament, and my claim about oh this World Cup, I didn't feel it yet was posted right before the opening ceremony.

Look at this post now.

Kick-off were kicked off. Russia had opened the tournament with a big win 5-0 against newcomer Saudi Arabia -which most people joked they lost because they skipped celebrating Eid night and play the game instead. Several other games were played, and here I am with the very first post.

But I don't blame myself.

I was busy from all the works, I was still recovering from the emotional roller-coaster caused by the Champions League final, and I knew eventually I'd be on the track and follow all the things happening in Russia, even without me trying hard to do it.

Plus, I knew who to support. Unlike the clueless 10-year-old me, the imbecile 14-year-old me, and  the not-yet-mature-but-acting-like-a-mature 18-year-old me, the 26-year-old me is quiet firm about whose side I'll be cheering upon, thanks to the awesome 22-year-old me. It saved my time from all the warming-up, pointless deliberation posts leading up to the kick-off, so I got to write straight on the D-day instead--which is, this post.

So yea, I said it.
No warming up rambles,
No pointless deliberation talks,

I'm here to say I'm ready for
Yet another awesome World Cup!

Finding Excitação

No comments:

Four years ago today,

The biggest once-in-four-years sport event took place
And the whole world was like excited as hell. So was I.

This year,

Four years after the last once-in-four-years sport event took place,
Is about to start soon. The whole world was like excited as hell but umm.

I'm not.

I don't know what's wrong. With the euphoria. With me.
The World Cup has always been, and should be something I can't ever deny.

I remembered my first World Cup ever. 2002. Korea Japan. I called for Italy. Not a good start for my newborn euphoria, Italy was stopped by South Korea in the second round. I was so damn pissed off I swear I swore South Korea so many times since after. Ya I was an immature and knew nothing much about football. But after all I enjoyed the whole cup.

Then my second World Cup. 2006. Germany. I called for Brazil. It was a very emotional path for us -me and Brazil. Especially when Brazil was beaten by France. I cried of a heartbreak. But I moved on. The cup changed my whole perception about football. I started to be a football fan for the next one year. Bought sport papers, stayed up late for matches, I was a fanboy. Of AC Milan, of Kaka. Ya that couple of year was like my adoration reigm towards him. Thanks to WC 2006. Surely the best cup ever.

My last cup, 2010. South Africa. I called for Spain. Was a smooth cup because my team played well. I supported them like I know everything, like Spain was my nation. Tons of blog posts were made, gazillions of tweets were shared, not only for Spain, but for everything about the cup. Until I realize I can't just like football during and along the euphoria of World Cup. I needed to have my favorite football team. That I like completely, not because of some certain player I idolize. That was when I started to be a Liverpudlian.

But as you might notice.
Recently I forgot about Liverpool.
That's acceptable because that's what I am.
But losing interest towards The World Cup, well...
Something is wrong with me, and I don't know why.

Three hours away before the first kick-off.
I haven't posted anything about World Cup 2014.
I haven't stated any of my excitement towards the cup.
I haven't even decided which team to be fvckin supported!
And for God's sake it's Pitbull who's singing the primary anthem!

Que está errado, Vick?!

The Lions Start Roaring!

No comments:

It's less than two weeks, people. The biggest event held once in four years. The plays that are able to steal millions of eyes. The only bunch of matches that can successfully make me love soccer... Yeah, it's nothing else but the

FIFA WORLD CUP 2010!!

I may not like playing soccer. No, surely not. But watching the World Cup... I will be the most unluckiest boy ever born if I miss this massive thing.

Everybody from all around the globe must've been waiting for this event for soooo long ago. The euphoria, the atmosphere, the Zumaki, the ball Jabulani... Oh, they're just way too different from common soccer matches.

Phew, I'm getting carried away man. I just can't wait. But let's just sit down and be patient. Two weeks won't be that long, right?
